Once upon a time, nestled near the quaint town of Koothattukulam in the heart of Kerala's Ernakulam district, there existed a beacon of compassion known far and wide as the Bethsaida Charitable Trust. Its roots were firmly planted in the soil of altruism, officially taking shape as a registered trust in the year 2018. At the helm of this noble venture stood a man with a profound vision—Mr. Wilson. Born into the embrace of Mr. C. J. Mathai and Mrs. Annamma Mathai as their fourth son, Wilson bore witness to the harsh realities that life could impose. Driven by an unyielding desire to make a difference, he embarked on a mission that would extend a helping hand to those abandoned elders, left without a home or anyone to care for them. The story of Mr. Wilson's benevolence quickly became the talk of the town, catching the attention of Rev. Finahas Ramban of Malekkurish Dayara. It was this revered figure who christened the mission "Bethsaida" and remained its steadfast patron until the end of his days.
The term "Bethsaida" resonated deeply with biblical significance, translating to "House of Fish" as written in the Holy Bible. It was in this sacred place that the miracles of Lord Jesus unfolded, particularly the awe-inspiring healing of the blind, chronicled in the scriptures [Mark 8:22-26]. True to its name, Bethsaida Charitable Trust embraced each individual under its care as a divine reflection, providing them with the essentials of life—food, shelter, and the necessary medicines.
Within the walls of Bethsaida, there was no room for discrimination based on caste or color. Every soul was welcomed with open arms, echoing the universal principles of compassion and equality. Today, the echoes of Bethsaida's charity reverberate through various philanthropic endeavours—running an orphanage, offering palliative care to the bedridden, serving free meals through 'Anna Dhaanam,' distributing food to the destitute on the streets, offering counselling, conducting awareness camps, and organizing prayer services for those in need. Behind the scenes of this remarkable organization, a dedicated team of social workers toils with sincerity. Among them, experienced palliative care providers and nurses lend their voluntary services, breathing life into the noble cause espoused by Bethsaida Charitable Trust. In the tapestry of humanity, Bethsaida continues to weave a story of hope, compassion, and selfless service, illuminating the path for those in the shadows of despair.
